Dakota Lamas To Appear On Leave It To Lamas

Reality TV tends to tear families apartnot really bring them together. Shanye Lamas hopes her new E! series will bring together her siblings and divorced parents.
"Leave It to Lamas," premieres on October 11th at 11 p.m. It later moves to its regular 10:30 time slot the following Sunday. The show is a half-hour reality series that follows Shayne and her family - younger sister Dakota Lamas, brother A.J., her mom Michelle and dad (actor Lorenzo Lamas) - as they do the regular busy Hollywood thing while trying to reconnect with each other.

Lamas thinks that, "There's no more ripping apart that a reality show can do to us," "It can only bring us closer." In the first episode, viewers find out that A.J. and Lorenzo haven't spoken for about five years, an argument that plays out during filming when a news story claims A.J. had an affair with Lorenzo's fourth wife, Shauna Sand. "Nothing was set up or faked," Dakota Lamas said. "They've had a strained relationship for many years, for other reasons, and you'll learn more about that on the series."

Viewers may remember Shayne from the 12th season of ABC's "The Bachelor" That season, she won and accepted a proposal from "Bachelor" Matt Grant. They didnt get married of course

Lamas claims that she did not do the show just for fame and notoriety It wasnt a stunt to get more famous. "I've seen what reality has done to my father's career. Once you hop on that reality train, it's hard to hop back off and into series acting," said Lamas. "But I have a lot of confidence in myself and, at that time, the writer's strike was going on. I was approached, they offered me the chance to meet a fabulous bachelor - I took the opportunity. It was 100% to find love."

Lamas claims that the first season of "Leave It to Lamas" is really all about family, and she's extremely happy with the way it turned out.

"We are a family that is ultimately, at the end of the day, just like everybody else," Lamas said. "We're putting the truth out there about what's going on behind our doors, instead of painting a fake picture. We come from a broken family and, in 2009, so do a lot of other people. As sad as that is, it's reality, and we just want viewers to relate."
